‘Carducci in Carducci’ – September 12-14 – Italy 2014
A weekend of glorious music in Castagneto Carducci, Tuscany with the Carducci Quartet and guest artists.
We are delighted to announce that we are returning to Castagneto-Carducci in Tuscany, Italy this year for our own weekend festival of music. Carducci is a special place for us, because back in 1997 after a performance in the town, the Mayor stood up and said we should take the name ‘Carducci’ for our quartet. Matthew also proposed to Emma whilst there and so the rest is history!
The programme this September will include music by Haydn, Mozart, Dvorak, Vivaldi, Boccherini and Puccini, with guest musicians on clarinet and guitar.
The concert venues will include a beautiful mediaeval church, an intimate 19th century theatre in Castagneto-Carducci and a concert in the lovely walled village of Bolgheri, which has a wonderful cypress avenue leading to it. (Made famous by a poem of Giosue Carducci!)
Concerts are planned for Friday 12th Sept and Saturday 13th Sept in the evenings in Castagneto Carducci and a 11.30am concert followed by a festival meal on Sunday 14th Sept in Bolgheri.
