Carducci Young Composers Competition
The Carducci Young Composers Competition is an inspiring initiative, aimed at nurturing the next generation of musical talent. Open to young composers aged 11–18 residing or studying in the UK, the competition offers a unique opportunity for young musicians to have their original string quartet compositions performed by a professional ensemble.
Competition Highlights
• Eligibility: Young composers aged 11–18 living or attending school in the UK.
• Submission Deadline: For the 2025 competition, entries must be submitted by Sunday, 23 February 2025.
• Performance Opportunity: Winning compositions will be showcased by the Carducci Quartet during the Young Composer Showcase at the Carducci Festival in Highnam on Friday, 16 May 2025.
• Prizes: Winners receive a £100 cash prize and the invaluable experience of hearing their work performed live.
Educational Support
To assist young composers in their creative journey, the Carducci Quartet collaborates with composers Rob Fokkens and Dave Ayre to conduct workshops. These sessions demystify the process of writing for string quartet, offering hands-on experience and personalized feedback to students.
